Tikkun Olam, Repairing the World
We live in a fragmented world that pulls us in too many directions and leaves individuals feeling a sense of profound isolation. To counteract such damaging tendencies, our congregation strives to be a community dedicated to performing deeds of loving kindness for each other and for the larger community. We are a community of individuals who have chosen to stand by each other through the major passages of life—occasions of celebration and times of adversity. We seek to extend this caring beyond our own congregation by engaging in community service. Our Hebrew actively supports tzedakah and community outreach projects throughout the year.
Projects undertaken this year include an energy reduction program and charitable giving for Chanukah, a service learning trip to New Orleans, group volunteer projects for Jewish Family and Children's Services, beginning with "Soup for Seniors" in March, and partnering with the UU on their Spring Fair to support local charities.
