What is Reconstructionism?

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER, 21, 2009 7-9:30 PM
PRINCETON TOWN HALL
The Reconstructionist movement is the newest and smallest in modern American Jewish movements, but its influence has been tremendous. Rabbi Jacob Staub will tell us (and others who might be interested) just what is Reconstructionism, how does it differ from other Jewish movements, and what are Reconstructionism's views on current issues? We are happy to invite the entire community as other Jews (and non-Jews) might be curious to learn more about this avant guard movement.
Jews and the Comics SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2009 7:30-9 PM
LOCATION TBD
Matt Rosenthal, president of Reconstructionist Kehilat Shalom in Belle Mead is an avid comic book collector and he has put together a session where he explains how Jews and Jewish history has played a critical role in the introduction and development of comics and comic characters in America. He will bring many 'examples' of this, so here is an excellent excuse for many of us ‘adults’ to spend an evening reading comic books again!

This best selling novel, by Pulitzer Prize wining author Geraldine Brooks tells the story of the Sarajevo Haggadah, a rare illustrated manuscript of the Passover story that has many archaeological mysteries associated with it. Join us (over coffee, tea and desserts) as we discuss this fascinating novel as Brooks uses the artifice of a fictitious female rare book expert from Australia to tell the story of a real artifact from Muslim-ruled Spain in the 13th Century and it’s eventful, serendipitous odyssey of survival.
