GENTLE YOGA TO STRETCH YOUR BODY AND LIFT YOUR SPIRIT

1:45 – 3:00 p.m.
Learn gentle yoga postures and breathing techniques to enhance flexibility, release tension, and lift your spirit for the New Year! This session will be facilitated by Marsha Rudolph, MA, RYT, who has been teaching breath awareness for the last 15 years and Yoga for the last 6 years. Marsha has been working as a Community Health Educator at Capital Health System since 1997, and her specialty is working with people, who in the past, were too intimidated to take a yoga class.You can often spot Marsha in her favorite town of Lambertville, NJ at the Acme Screening Room, the various Farmer’s Markets in the area, or just hanging out at Prallsville Mill reading and listening to the sounds of the river!

THE BINDING OF THE MIND: A JEWISH PERSPECTIVE ON MEDITATION

3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

An introduction to the practice of silent meditation and its role in Jewish life. This workshop will explore the theme of establishing meditation as a healthy form of sacrifice and self-cultivation, enlivened by a discourse on akedah, the binding of Isaac. Facilitated by Levi Gershkowitz, a local practitioner and instructor of Thai Yoga Massage, participants are invited to sit with the auspicious qualities of t'shuvah and reflective silence provided by Yom Kippur. Levi's practice extends from the healing arts of the Buddhist tradition, supported by the roots of his own Jewish practice and academic study.


T’SHUVAH: MICHAEL VICK AND THE SAGES

4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

What does the surprising career of star Eagles' quarterback Michael Vick have to do with Yom Kippur? Everything! In this workshop, we'll "study" Vick's life before and after his prison sentence for dogfighting (with some help from the sports columnist Buzz Bissinger and others) and learn how t'shuvah/repentance can work in anyone's life. No prior experience with professional football or Jewish concepts necessary.Workshop facilitated by Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum, String of Pearls.
