5771 High Holiday Services

In preparation for the High Holidays, String of Pearls invites the community to engage in a conversation on the theme of imperfection in the Jewish tradition. We think of the High Holidays as a largely introspective time, a time for self-improvement. But self-improvement for the sake of what? Do we regard self-improvement as a step toward perfecting ourselves? If so, our tradition would argue strongly otherwise. In fact, Jewish notions of perfection / imperfection are radically different from our current Western conceptions. This theme will be elaborated during the holidays with the help of artists and other creative thinkers.

All services will be at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, 50 Cherry Hill Road, Princeton, just off 206.
